Murcia-based Inbentus donates four respirators to India

Coronavirus has overwhelmed health services in the Indian giant

Inbentus developed its first ventilator, the SAV-19, very useful against COVID and is currently preparing a second, more technologically advanced model, called Versatile.

Inbentusthe company from Murcia specialized in the manufacture of revolutionary respirators that are proving especially useful against the COVID disease, shows its most supportive face with the donation of four of these devices and more than 200 medical consumables to India to cooperate with the dramatic situation that the inhabitants of that country are living in the face of the uncontrolled spread of the pandemic. The health services in that country, where a new variant of the virus has developed which is more harmful and spreads very quickly, have been overwhelmed and its hospital infrastructures have collapsed due to the large influx of patients. The lack of ventilators, essential for the life support of patients, is causing many deaths, and Inbentus from Murcia has decided to 'lend a hand' with the donation of four of these devices.

In view of the dramatic situation, India launched an appeal for international aid on April 23rd through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, to which Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and the Czech Republic have responded. In the case of Spain, a flight will leave Barajas airport this Friday for New Delhi (after a stopover in Saudi Arabia) loaded with medical supplies. In all, Spain is sending a total of 167 respirators and 121 oxygen concentrators, as well as consumables such as filters and masks for an approximate amount of 2 M€.

Of all the equipment, 111 oxygen concentrators, 22 respirators and consumables were purchased by the Humanitarian Action Office of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, AECID; in addition, the Ministry of Health donated 10 oxygen concentrators and 141 respirators, plus 4 respirators manufactured and donated by Inbentus, the only private company that decided to donate.

SUPPORTIVE APPLAUSE

The Secretary of State for Health, Ángeles Moreno, stated that "we are facing a pandemic with global repercussions whose solution can only be global and therefore requires the help and solidarity of all". The Ambassador of India thanked, on behalf of his government and the people of India, "the support and solidarity of Spain in the fight against the second wave of COVID-19", and stressed that "it is a gesture that reinforces the close and long-standing relations between the two countries".

He also recalled that "at the beginning of the pandemic, India did the same with other countries, for which we show our gratitude which is nothing but a reflection of mutual cooperation and goodwill".

The cargo, articulated by AECID, will arrive in New Delhi on Monday, May 10, and will be delivered to the Indian Red Cross for distribution . A second shipment from Barajas is also scheduled for next week.

WHAT IS INBENTUS AND ITS SAV-19?

Inbentus is a fast-growing company that is growing at a fast pace Rafael Valverde, CEO, at the helm, and is the first manufacturer of medical ventilators in Murcia. The first device developed by this company, the SAV-19, is an emergency ventilator that was developed in record time in 2020 to meet the national need for this type of device during the pandemic . It is a robust and reliable device that does not require medical air or oxygen connections for its operation, which makes it independent of an advanced hospital infrastructure and therefore very useful in India.

The Murcian company was created as a shock response to the emergencies of covid-19, although the company's plans are more long-term, in fact, they point out that respiratory pathologies (to which the Inbentus SAV-19 responds) will require this machinery over the next 20 years. "By 2027, more than €12 billion is expected to be spent on respiratory medical technology, which has sustained annual growth of 16%." The company is currently developing its second high-performance ventilator, called Versatile, with a clearly international focus.

The company already has the capacity to produce 100 units of the ventilator per week and wants to scale its growth as demand increases. The company even has plans to enter the alternative market (BME Growth) in four to five years.
